The ASR will provide a great opportunity for spine surgeons and neurosurgeons to contribute to the continued safety and quality of spine surgery in Australia.
Once the database is mature, registry staff will be able to provide individual surgeons with an annual report providing numbers of each procedure and other measures in Australia.
During the pilot period, we would encourage you to express your interest to join the registry by either downloading and completing the expression of interest (EOI) form or contacting the registry coordinator directly. All surgeons who wish to join the registry must also be members of the Spine Society of Australia.
When the registry is ready to accept more surgeons, the registry coordinator will contact you to confirm your interest and details and then begin the ethics application to your hospital site(s) by liaising with the nominated Human Research Ethics Committee.
Once ethics and governance approval is obtained, registry staff will send you a package including patient information brochures and an Australian Spine Registry advertising poster; these items will help to align your site with the registry.
